ערב טוב שמי אחינועם ניני. מגיל 5 עד גיל 15 למדתי בישיבה אורטודוקסית בניו יורק, הצטיינתי בלימודי משנה וגמרא, הגעתי למקום 3 בחידון התנ"ך. את זה בטח לא ידעתם. אז אף אחד שלא ימכור לי סיפורים.

כל ביטוי של הדרת נשים, מעבר להיותו פרשנות גברית קיצונית, מקוממת ואפילו חסרת אינטלגנציה לדברים האמורים בכתבי הקודש, פוגע בכולנו כמגדר, ובכל אחת מאיתנו כפרט. אך הדרת נשים איננה רק מטרה הרסנית כשלעצמה! היא חלק ממרוץ נגד הזמן ליציקת תוכן רדיקלי במושג "יהודית" מתוך הצמד "יהודית ודמוקרטית" מושג שבמשך השנים נעשה מקובל על דעת מרבית הציבור היהודי, ללא עירעור או מחשבה שנייה. מושג שלפתע הפך לאחד ממעוזי סרבנות השלום מבית מדרשו של נתניהו.

האופוריה המשיחית שהתעוררה בעקבות מלחמת ששת הימים עמדה במבחן יום הכיפורים והתערערה לראשונה רק בתקופת הסכמי אוסלו. אז, באותה תקופה הרת גורל הוסר ה"איום" כביכול על ידי שלושה כדורי אקדח נוראיים.

בעת פינוי עזה וגם לאחר נאום בר אילן נתערערה האופוריה בשנית אך הפעם זרק ראש הממשלה חבל הצלה: על ההנהגה הפלשתינית מוטלת החובה להכיר במדינת ישראל כמדינה יהודית! מאותו רגע התחיל המרוץ נגד השעון. למנהיגי הימין ולרבנים הקיצוניים נותר רק להפוך את המדינה ליהודית כזו, שלעולם לא תתאפשר נורמליזציה עם אזרחי ישראל הערבים וכמובן עם שכנינו. כך יונצח הכיבוש, והגאולה תחיש פעמיה - אחרי מלחמת גוג ומגוג כמובן...

בהקשר זה נתפסת הדרת נשים כמוצב קל לכיבוש הניצב בדרכה של ההסתערות על אופייה של המדינה.
את יוזמות החקיקה המחרידות ואת ההשתלחות במערכת המשפט אנחנו רואות יום יום ולכאורה, יאמרו אחדים מאיתנו, אין קשר בין הדברים אבל אני אומרת יש ויש! ואני קוראת לכולנו לשיר ולא לחדול עד שנשיר את המסך המעוור את עיני הציבור ונחשוף את התוכנית ההזויה והמסוכנת הנרקמת מול עינינו...
היכן הבושה? להשתמש ביהדות, לטנפה כך, להניף אותה כקרדום פוליטי בשביל לחפור בו בדרך להשפלת ציבור שלם ויצירת טליבן מקומי?

אנחנו נלחמים על הערכים הבסיסיים החשובים ביותר של מדינתנו שהולכת לאיבוד מול עיננו. אני תוהה היכן יושבי האוהלים ומפגיני הקוטג'? או שמא אין הם סבורים שנשמתה ואפייה של המדינה שווים יציאה מהבית? מבחינתי שתיקה איננה אופציה. אני אינני חרדית אך חרדה בהחלט, לגורלה של מדינתי הכל כך אהובה, ולמורשת היהדות שכל חלקה טובה בה נרמסת ומתכערת בידי קיצוניים.

Art is said to connect people, but that hasn't been proven often enough in the Middle East. Apart from a few flickers here and there, a steady continuity of artistic collaborations between Jews and Arabs has not been preserved.

The 2011 Speaking Arts Conference, which was held in Jerusalem last week, attempted to bring together dozens of Jewish and Palestinian artists involved in performing arts (music, theater and movement). The conference featured open performances, workshops and mater classes held in a variety of auditoriums across the cityThe music workshops were led by musician and composer Sameer Makhoul, and the opening concert at the Masie House Theater Center was presented by Achinoam Nini and Gili Dor, with Arab dancer Mona Mashi'l.

Nini and Dor also hosted a master class, in which they discussed their creation process throughout the years.

"It doesn't happen enough," says Nini, also known by her professional name Noa. "Not just in Israel but in the world too. It's very hard to hold such events despite the fact that we are artists and that such connections should hover over everything.

"But you know how it is – many times politics interferes in people's considerations, both each person's politics and the political opinions of the macro and micro groups, and then things stop."

Because people are afraid as well.

"Or concerned about their career, their status within their society. It can also reach personal safety and very radical places, especially in our region.

"I have experienced many projects in the world which could have been wonderful but were stopped following pressures and threats, fears on the other side that the umbilical cord they suck on all year will be cut off.

"Personally, I received threats years ago, when I started talking about politics and saying everything clearly and not politically correct. So my life was threatened and my house was guarded."

And you moved on.

"Right. That's not something that would make me stop. I performed in the Eurovision with (Israeli Arab singer) Mira Awad. Times have changed too. Once one would go to jail for meeting with Palestinians, and today the prime minister meets with Palestinian. Naturally, there are serious differences of opinion, but things can already be said differently.

"Let’s think positive, this conference is happening. We assembled a plan from a wide range of material, and yesterday we saw Mona for the first time. She's an extraordinary story. A 20-year-old medical student, a dancer and an excellent singer. It's a lot of fun."

Several days ago, Nini returned from India with Mira Awad, after the duo received a surprising invitation to perform in an economic conference in Goa.

"Words cannot describe just how amazing it was. People from all over the world, artists. It was very artistic. They found us there through the Internet and asked us to come. We had four concerts in Delhi, together and separately."

So you've opened a new channel.

"Absolutely, and I plan to continue. This year we've been both in India and in China. I told Mira that the next stop may be Antarctica. In the meantime, I have a whole month of Jerusalem."

Israeli Jewish singer Achinoam Nini (Noa)recently returned to Israel’s capital from performing in India (Goa and Dehli) with Israeli Arab singing partner Mira Awad. Last week Noa demonstrated Israel’s constant efforts to promote co-existence when she co-hosted the 2011 Speaking Arts Conference in Jerusalem, introducing dozens of Jewish and Palestinian Arab musicians, actors and dancers.

Almost twenty years after Rachel and Leah (1993), Achinoam Nini returns to the Israel Festival, together with her musical partner Gil Dor, in a premier performance marking the release of her exciting new album, based entirely on renditions of Israeli classics. The performance includes Bereshit, Yesh ey-sham, Makom le-de'aga, Zecharia Rachel, Hayu leilot and many other well-known titles.

The arranger and composer Ilan Mochiach is the musical director of the concert, which is accompanied by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.

Achinoam Nini, better known by her international stage name Noa, is one of the best-known Israeli singers in the world. Nini has collaborated and performed with leading names, including Sting, Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Al Di Meola, Annie Lennox, Mercedes Sosa, and many others. She also gained fame when she performed before Pope John Paul II.

Achinoam Nini comments: "For many years, I only performed Israeli 'classics' very rarely. Now, after eight original albums and countless performances in Israel and around the world, I feel happy, confident, and ready to take on this new challenge. Gil Dor and I have chosen some of the beautiful and moving songs that have influenced us over the course of our own lives."

"Vas a ver la llegada de Pep, ¿verdad?" me dice un agente de seguridad en el ultraprotegido aeropuerto de Ben Gurion, cerca de Tel Aviv. En Israel, decir Pep sólo tiene un significado: Guardiola. Una de las personalidades del deporte más conocidas y admiradas en este país que, a falta de buen fútbol local, se emociona con el Barça.

Especialmente emocionados estaban unos 20 aficionados del Barça que fueron este miércoles al aeropuerto por si las moscas. Para ellos fue suficiente el rumor que el entrenador del campeón de Europa podria aterrizar para dejarlo todo y esperar.

Así fue. Guardiola y su esposa llegaron a última hora de la tarde, invitados por la famosa cantante israelí Noa para asistir a su concierto de esta noche en el Teatro Jerusalén. Una prestigiosa actuación junto Gil Dor y la Filarmónica de la ciudad en el marco del Festival Israel.

De esta forma, el entrenador catalan cumple su promesa hecha hace un mes a Noa y su marido cuando estuvieron en Barcelona con motivo de una actuación. La artista le entregó su nuevo album y le dijo medio en broma que si ganaban la Champions, tenian que venir al concierto. Dicho, jugado y hecho.

"Estoy contento de estar aquí. Me quedaré unos 4 o cinco días», se limitó a decir Guardiola ante los numerosos medios israelíes.

En la sala principal del Aeropuerto Ben Gurion se concentraron varios jóvenes israelíes con las camisetas del Barça esperando a su ídolo. "He venido porque me han dicho que quizás el gran Pep está aquí.Es sólo un rumor y mi familia dice que estoy loco Pero no hay muchas oportunidades de verle en persona", nos dice Yuval, de Raanana, al norte de Tel Aviv.

Finalmente no le vio porque Guardiola salió por una puerta VIP en otra terminal del aeropuerto. Eso si mostrando simpatía con los aficionados más persistentes que encontraron la pequeña sala Masada por donde salió. En menos de 10 segundos, les firmó camisetas de Xavi e incluso sonrió cuando alguien le dijo sonriendo: "¡Bojan Krkic!".

Guardiola visitará seguramente lugares turísticos como los Lugares Santos de Jerusalén o el Mar Muerto. Lo que está claro es que su visita es exclusivamente privada alejándose en lo posible de los medios locales que intentarán encontrarle.

"Quiere máxima intimidad y hay que respetarlo. Guardiola es una persona muy amable y queremos que tenga una estancia interesante.A fin de cuentas, está de vacaciones", nos confiesan en el entorno de la cantante Noa. Una artista que es hoy la envidia de la legión de seguidores blaugrana en Israel.

"Si organizan un acto, Guardiola podría atraer a miles de personas. Es admirado no sólo por el equipazo que tiene sino por su estilo y modestía", cuenta un chaval tras casi dos horas esperando ante la salida VIP.

A Pep le contarán que cerca de 2000 israelíes viajaron en el último partido contra el Madrid y otros tantos estuvieron en Wembley el día que el Barça se coronó como uno de los mejores equipos de la historia. Que segun los sondeos, es el equipo extranjero preferidos por los israelíes (si se hiciera la encuesta en la calle palestina elr esultado sería el mismo) y que sus principales partidos en la televisión cosechan importantes datos de audiencia en Israel.

Hace más de un mes, Noa había declinado con cierto dolor una entrada para la final de Wembley alegando que tenía compromisos previos. Se perdió el concierto de la Filarmónica de Guardiola. Hoy, la israelí intentará que el entrenador disfrute del suyo.

Pep Guardiola se convirtió en el gran protagonista de la noche de Jerusalén. El entrenador del F. C. Barcelona acudió el sábado por la noche al teatro de Jerusalén a un concierto de la cantante israelí de renombre internacional, Noa.

Guardiola acudió a Jerusalén después de que hace un mes, Noa -amiga del entrenador y su esposa- le dijera que si el Barça ganaba la Champions estaba invitado a un concierto suyo en la capital de Israel. La cantante israelí actuó en el marco del festival de Jerusalén.

Cuando el campeón de Europa entró en la sala acompañado por 12 personas, el público irrumpió en un largo aplauso que duró varios minutos. "No estaba claro quien actuaba en el Festival de Israel: Ajinoam Nini (la cantante Noa) que goza de renombre internacional, o la calva mas famosa del mundo del deporte, el maestro Guardiola", escribió el popular diario israelí Yediot Ajronot.

Cuando el míster del Barça aterrizó en Tel Aviv el viernes por la tarde para una visita de 5 días, le esperaban decenas de periodistas israelíes y de todo el mundo que ansiaban entrevistarle. "Estoy de vacaciones", contestó Guardiola excusándose y huyendo de las cámaras.

El sábado por la noche, cuando se confirmó que llegaría a la actuación de Noa, cientos de fans del fútbol empezaron a luchar por conseguir las entradas sin vender. El evento cultural recibió un toque deportivo muy inusual. Los gemelos Yakir y Aviram Tabibi contaban orgullosos que lograron entradas, pagando tres veces el precio original.

Guardiola se limitó a decir a los periodistas: "Estoy muy contento de estar aquí". Luego, junto a Noa participó en una rueda de prensa improvisada en la que declaró: "Tenéis un país maravilloso". Y añadió: "Noa es una cantante fantástica".

Mientras Guardiola saludaba a parte de los asistentes, Noa se excusaba ante los periodistas: "Tenéis que entender que si Pep habla aquí , tendrá que dar entrevistas en todo el mundo".

Ariela Taus, de 23 años y fan blaugrana, recordó que según una reciente encuesta casi el 60% de los israelíes se declara adepto del Barça, frente a un porcentaje muy pequeño que declara su apoyo al Real Madrid. Luego, con una sonrisa pícara, añadió: "Fue una actuación inolvidable. La cantante Noa también estuvo muy bien".

Delegates from 156 federations and some 400 independent communities are taking part in the GA.

Over 4,000 North Americans are seeing a different side of Israel this week than they are used to viewing on their television screens. As delegates to the 72nd General Assembly of the United Jewish Communities, the 4,300 visitors are converging for 4 days to bond with their 2000 Israeli counterparts, to discuss issues related to the Jewish world, and to learn about Israeli society in all its facets including volunteerism, philanthropy, women's issues, absorption, hi-tech, biotech, museums, and kibbutzim.

Over 6,000 people filled the Jerusalem International Convention Center Sunday night for the gala opening of the GA. Following a moment of silence in memory of the victims of Saturday's Istanbul synagogue bombings, Israeli musical icons Achinoam Nini and David Broza performed and President Moshe Katsav and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon addressed the crowd.

Delegates from 156 federations and some 400 independent communities are taking part in the assembly. Representatives of dozens of organizations, institutions and movements will also be attending the GA, vying for the delegates' attention.
