2013 is a watershed year twice over for Quincy Jones.

Claude Nobs’ alter ego for many many years and a human monument to the history of modern music, Quincy Jones will celebrate his  80th birthday this year. And it’s on the emotion-charged Montreux stage that he plans to celebrate it, thus paying tribute to his friend Nobbs. Appropriately, the highly symbolic final curtain on this 47th edition will be rung down to the sound of music orchestrated by a bouquet of guests and friends: the Globbal Gumbo, accompanied by the In the House Band and directed by Greg Phillinganes. An finally, like a red thread reminding us of the links, Claude Nobs’ adored Pepe Lienhard big band.

2013 is also a watershed year of recognition. Because today, 18 April 2013, just as the Montreux Jazz Festival programming officially opens, Quincy Jones enters the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A logical choice when you consider the breadth of his career, his commitment and his considerable influence on the world of music: a producer, conductor, arranger, composer and trumpeter, Jones was nominated 79 times for a Grammy Award and actually received 27 of them, including a Grammy Legend Award in 1991. 1991, another famous year marked by the last Montreux concert of another legend, Miles Davis. Because Quincy and Claude, co-producers of the Festival that year, had talked him into coming… Quincy Jones and Claude Nobs two great men whose names together stand for the ability to unify, a limitless vision and the same deep-rooted thirst for music.

Vocalist Mamak Khadem has captivated audiences around the world with her seamless blend of Persian music and poetry into a revolutionary new sound.  Formerly of the sensational cross-cultural fusion ensemble Axiom of Choice, Mamak weaves a canopy, both simple and rich, that invites new listeners to embrace Persian arts and culture through a blending of old and new. Mamak Khadem's music shares a message of peace and understanding through an exploration of Persian literature, culture, history, and traditions.

Mamk Khadem is joined by award-winning poet Sholeh Wolpé and pianist/composer Giovanna Imbesiin, presenting songs from their upcoming album. Mamak will also present some pieces from the vast and rich regional music of Iran, and will be accompanied by Mehdi Bagheri, a young virtuoso Kamancheh player who has collaborated with masters of Iranian music, and has played in venues such as the Theatre De La Ville, Paris, and T.J. Troy, who combines an eclectic knowledge of percussion from around the world.

Known in Israel by her given name Achinoam Nini, Noa is Israel's leading international concert and recording artist.  This is an incredibly rare and special appearance by this artist and is sure to be a magical addition to the evening.

New York, New York (April 14, 2004) - On May 16, 2004, many of the world's greatest performers are gathering at Rome's historic Circo Massimo (Circus Maximus) to partake in the WE ARE THE FUTURE Concert, a spectacular musical event that will launch an innovative program aimed at securing a better future for children and young people in post-conflict areas.

The super-star lineup of international artists includes: Muhammad Ali, Patti Austin, Andrea Bocelli, Cirque Du Soleil, Natalie Cole, Carmen Consoli, Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, Angelina Jolie, Juanes, Kazem Al Sahir, Alicia Keys, Khaled, Angelique Kidjo, LL Cool J, Youssou N'Dour, Noa, Lionel Richie, Caiphus Semenya and the Soundz of South Afrika, Simon Shaheen, Stomp (Cast), Riffat Sultana, Take 6, Tarkan, Ben Taylor, Chris Tucker, Usher and Oprah Winfrey. Additional names to be announced shortly.

Music icon Quincy Jones, in partnership with Hani Masri from Nablus, Palestine - who continuously plays an important role in the Middle East - The Glocal Forum, a Rome-based NGO promoting city-to-city networks led by Israeli Peace Negotiator Uri Savir, and the Mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni, will present the WE ARE THE FUTURE Concert. This monumental evening co-produced and co-organized by the City of Rome and led by Quincy Jones will be a globally telecast concert. The free event will kick off the WE ARE THE FUTURE program, and takes place in conjunction with the Third Annual Glocalization Conference of the Glocal Forum where key stakeholders will discuss program implementation (www.wearethefuture.com).

In May 2004 Noa performed in "We Are the Future": a globally telecast fund raising concert for children in conflict areas. The event, which was produced by Quincy Jones and hosted by the mayor of Rome Walter Veltroni, featured an international line-up of stars and performers such as Oprah Winfrey, Angelina Jolie, Chris Tucker, Naomi Campbell and Serena Williams, Patti Austin, Carlos Santana, Alicia Keys, Andrea Bocelli, Carmen Consoli, Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, Stomp, Take 6, Angelique Kidjo and others. The concert was performed live in front of an audience of 350,000 in Rome's "Circo Massimo", and broadcast on MTV, VH1 and various other channels to millions more around the world. (this performance was held during Noa's 6th month of pregnancy!)
